A small UK team passionate about origami paper.
Folding Paper was created to make it easier to find good quality origami paper in the UK — papers chosen specifically for folding rather than generic craft use.
We’re a small team who care about colour, texture and how paper actually behaves when you fold it.
How Folding Paper Started
Origami has been part of our lives for a long time.
One member of the team, Nick Robinson, has spent many years folding, teaching and writing about origami. His experience naturally shaped the kinds of papers we wanted to make available.
Over time we realised that finding reliable origami paper in the UK wasn’t always straightforward. Many folders were relying on generic craft paper that didn’t crease particularly well or hold its shape.
Folding Paper grew out of that simple idea: to make it easier to find papers that are genuinely enjoyable to fold.
Nick brings the folding experience and perspective, while the rest of the team focuses on running the shop and making sure orders arrive safely and quickly.
Nick Robinson
Nick has been folding origami for decades and has written many books exploring different aspects of paper folding.
His experience helps guide the types of papers we stock and recommend, particularly for beginners who may not yet know how much difference paper can make.
“When the paper is right, folding becomes much more enjoyable.”
Why Paper Matters
Paper is central to the experience of origami. The weight, surface texture and flexibility all influence how easily a model folds and how it holds its final shape.
The right paper can make learning more enjoyable and help more complex models come together more cleanly.
That’s why we focus on papers that folders already trust — including Kami, Tant and Kraft — rather than offering hundreds of generic craft options.
